HCS providers cannot provide hands-on personal care, however, they can verbally prompt your loved one to bathe and get dressed. Homemakers and companions can perform tasks such as cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and escorting your loved one to medical appointments and other outings. In addition, they are permitted to assist with combing or brushing hair, applying makeup, and polishing nails. This type of agency is ideal for a loved one who is independently mobile and is able to perform their own personal hygiene tasks.
